September 8, 2022: Release Notes
Updated over 2 years ago

We generally release new features and bug fixes around 3 pm PT, but that time is likely to vary. If you're not yet seeing these updates in your account, take a little fresh air walk and check back in a bit.

This release is a big one with lots of details, so we've broken it up into digestible sections for you:

What's New?

  • Private Pages. Our all-new private pages are a wonderful space for you to jot down notes, tasks, or to-do lists that only you as the author can see. They can also be used as a staging area for pages that you'd like to share in a group in the future.

Private pages can be created by all users in your workspace no matter their permissions! Learn more about creating and managing private pages.

What's Updated?

  • Update Page Creation Flow. As part of the new private page toolset, we've made some small changes to the page creation and draft flow. If you're a frequent page creator, we'd suggest reviewing these changes:

  • Custom Navigation. Your custom navigation toolset has been updated so that there are no limits on the number of spaces in your navigation menus—both horizontally across the top and vertically in the dropdown menus. Learn more about custom navigation.

  • Email Notifications in Outlook Apps. If your team is using Outlook, you'll notice that your email notifications have a shiny new look. We've updated our templates to better respond to Microsoft's unique email protocols, making them a lot more sparkly and easy to read!

  • Page Viewing Preferences. When viewing a resource page, you'll see a button marked with <<, which will open and close the lefthand content index. With this release, your browser will now remember your index preferences and keep it open or closed as you navigate to other pages in your workspace.

Change Management Tools for Private Pages

Private pages are a super fun new addition to your workspace that impact all of your users! If you're eager to share more about this toolset, we're happy to share an email draft template that will share this update with your team and guide them through the new feature set. Just be sure to customize the text between the << >> marks before sending:

Hi team,

I'm excited to share a brand new toolset available to you on <<your Haystack workspace name>>: Private Pages!

Private pages give each of you the ability to create content for yourself on the platform. It's a great place to take quick notes, keep a log of brainstormed ideas, plan for 1:1 meetings, and more. A few important notes on the toolset:

  • Private pages can only be seen by you as the author.

  • You can create as many private pages as you'd like.

  • Private pages are housed right alongside our company and group pages for quick access all in one place.

  • If you have content creation permissions, you can easily turn private pages into published resource pages if and when needed!

You can learn all about private pages here: Creating and Managing Private Pages. Or simply give it a try by clicking the Create button at the top right corner of your <<Haystack Workspace Name>> window.

Additionally, if you are a Haystack content creator, this update includes a few minor changes to the page publishing and drafting flow you're used to. Take a peek at the updates here:

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful rest of your day,

<<Your Name>>
