The simple polling tool allows workspace admins, group owners, and content creators to drive engagement, gather opinions, collect feedback, or just have fun!


Understanding Poll Permissions

Who can create dashboard polls?

Poll card creation permissions follow the dashboard's permissions. Those who can edit the workspace dashboard can create a poll there. Those who can edit a group dashboard can create a poll there.

Who can create in-line polls?

Anyone with content creation permissions can embed a poll in a post, page, or event body by using the /-editor.

Who can see poll results?

  • Poll results by %: When a poll is open, all poll responders will see the results by %. When a poll is closed, all poll viewers will see the results by %.

  • Poll results by unique user vote:

    • Dashboard Polls: Only those with dashboard editing permissions—the same group of users who are able to create polls—can see details results that display the user and their cast vote.

    • In-Line Polls: The content creator, group owners in which the content is housed, and admins can see detailed results that display the user and their cast vote.

Are polls anonymous?

Polls are not anonymous. Users will poll creation permissions will be able to see details results, which include the user's name and vote.

Who can vote in polls?

Anyone who can view a poll can cast a vote!


Creating an In-Line Poll

Anyone who has content creation permission for posts, pages, or events can embed a poll into the body of their content. To create an in-line poll:

  1. When creating your content, use your /-menu to pull up your embed options. You'll find Poll at the very bottom of the dropdown. Click it to start building!

  2. Add your poll question, description, and up to six voting options.

  3. Click Create Poll to see your poll embedded in-line.

  4. Continue creating your content as usual!

  5. Once your content is published, viewers can begin voting!


Creating a Dashboard Card Poll

Dashboard poll card creation permissions follow the dashboard's permissions. Those who can edit the workspace dashboard can create a poll there. Those who can edit a group dashboard can create a poll there. To create a poll:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of your workspace or group dashboard and click the Add Card button.

  2. From the card library, scroll down and click on Poll

  3. You'll see the empty poll card added to your dashboard. To customize it, click on the three-dotted button in the top right corner of the card and select Setup.

  4. Add your poll question, description, and up to six voting options.

  5. Click Create Poll — your poll is now live and viewers can begin voting!


Closing a Poll

As a poll creator, if you're ready to stop accepting responses to your poll, you can easily close your poll.

  1. When it's time to close and end the poll, click on the three-dotted button in the top right corner of the dashboard card and click on Close Polls.

  2. You'll see a pop-up modal with a summary of the poll results. You'll click on Close Poll on the bottom right.

Once a poll is closed, all viewers will see the %-only results.

Please note that users can change their choice to the poll as long as the poll is open. Once the poll is closed users will be unable to change their choice.


Viewing Detailed Poll Results

Viewing detailed poll results—the names and votes of unique users—is only available to specific permissioned users.

  • Dashboard Polls: Only those with dashboard editing permissions—the same group of users who are able to create polls—can see details results that display the user and their cast vote.

  • In-Line Polls: The content creator, group owners in which the content is housed, and admins can see detailed results that display the user and their cast vote.

To view detailed poll results...

  1. On the dashboard poll or in-line poll, click # Responded at the bottom left corner of the poll.

  2. This will open a detailed list of voters and votes cast.

  3. If needed, you can also close the poll from this space.
