Your workspace offers three types of groups, each with unique permissions to access the content and information within the group.

Open Groups

  • Open groups are the default setting for groups in your workspace.

  • Open groups and the content within them can be accessed by all members of your workspace—either by visiting the group directly or discovering the content via search.

  • Open groups can be joined by all members of your workspace.

Secret Groups

  • Secret groups are the most private groups in your workspace.

  • Secret groups and the content within them are only visible to the group's members, who need to be invited to the group by an admin or group owner.

  • Only group members will see a secret group's content in their search results.

  • Secret groups and their content can be seen by Workspace Admins.

  • Secret groups are marked with a secret eye icon across the workspace.

Closed Groups

  • Closed groups are a flexible option that sits between open groups and secret groups.

  • Closed groups can be seen by all members of the workspace, but to access a closed group's content, individuals must either be invited OR request access to join the group.

  • Only group members will see a closed group's content in their search results.

  • Group owners and workspace admins can approve the join requests in a closed group.

  • Closed groups are marked with a lock icon across the workspace.
