What is an MCP?

Think of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) as a secure digital bridge between your AI tools and your workplace software. Just as a physical adapter connects a laptop to a projector, an MCP allows conversational interfaces like Slack AI assistants to safely plug into your Haystack intranet to search and summarize internal information instantly.

Setup Prerequisites & Permissions

Admin Authorization: Must be configured by a Haystack Workspace Admin who also holds Slack App Admin or Workspace Owner privileges.
Official App Available: Haystack provides an official, verified Slack app for a smooth and secure connection.
Beta Access: This tooling is currently in invite-only beta. Workspace Admins should contact their dedicated Haystack Customer Success Manager (CSM) to request feature enablement.
User Permissions: The integration strictly enforces individual user permission levels. Every query respects the searching user's Haystack access rules—private documents and restricted spaces remain completely invisible to unauthorized users.
