The Basics: Typing and Text Tricks

Once you’ve given your post a snappy title, just click into the body and start typing. Haystack automatically saves your work as you go, so you can focus on being brilliant.

For quick style changes, simply highlight any text. A little menu will pop up with all your formatting options. Or, if you're a keyboard shortcut hero, you can use these classics:

  • Bold: Cmd/Ctrl + B

  • Italics: Cmd/Ctrl + I

  • Underline: Cmd/Ctrl + U

  • Link: Cmd/Ctrl + K

And for a bit of extra personality, you can add emojis by typing a colon ( : ) and the name of your emoji. Think :smile: or :pizza:.


Adding the "Wow" Factor: Rich Content and Media

This is where the real fun begins! You don't have to be a tech wizard to add images, videos, or other rich content. Just type a forward slash ( / ) and a whole menu of options will appear.

Images, The Visual Treat

Images are a quick and easy way to add some flair. When you type /image, you can upload a picture directly from your computer. Once it's there, you're the boss:

  • Resize: Click and drag the black line at the bottom of the image to adjust its height.

  • Caption: Hover over the top of the image and click Add Caption to give it a little description.

  • Hyperlink: Hover over the image and click the link icon to turn your image into a clickable link.

  • Delete: If you change your mind, just click the trash can icon.

Embedded Magic

Want to share a video or a document? Typing /embed allows you to drop in content from platforms like Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, or Dropbox. You can even embed videos directly into your post!

For files, the /file command will add a clean, hyperlinked line for downloading a document. It's a tidy way to share information without cluttering your page.

Smart Tags for Smart People

Tags are like the secret language of Haystack. They make it easy for people to find and discover related content. To add one, just type a hashtag ( # ) and start typing your tag. As you type, Haystack will suggest popular tags, or you can create your own. Once a tag is added, it will change color to let you know it's a live link.
