Creating, Using, and Managing Custom Emojis✨

Custom emojis are the best way to inject your brand's personality, inside jokes, and unique flair directly into all your Haystack communications!

Creating Your Custom Emojis (For Workspace Admins)

As a Workspace Admin, you have the power to create these fun reactions and icons. You can access the creation tool from two easy spots:

  1. Via Content/Comment: While creating content or adding a comment, type :e or click the Add Reaction button (the smiley face).

  2. Open the Modal: In the emoji selector modal that appears, click your workspace icon (top right corner) or scroll to the bottom.

  3. Upload & Name: Click Add Emoji. A pop-up will appear where you can upload your image (we recommend a square image!).

  4. A pop up screen will appear where ou'll upload an image as an emoji and give the emoji a name and click Save. Your new custom emoji is instantly available!


Using Your Custom Emojis (For All Users)

Once created, everyone in the workspace can use your new custom emojis.

In-Line in Text (Posts, Comments, Pages)

  1. When writing content, simply type a colon (:) followed by the name of your emoji (e.g., :computercat:).

  2. The emoji selector will open; click the custom emoji of your choice to insert it directly into your text.

As a Reaction to Content

  1. Navigate to the content or comment where you want to leave a reaction.

  2. Click the Add Reaction button (the smiley face).

  3. Use the search bar or scroll down to find and click the custom emoji of your choice!

Managing Emojis in the Admin Console (For Workspace Admins)

Workspace Admins have full control to create, edit, and delete custom emojis as needed.

  1. Click the account dropdown in the top right corner of your screen and select Admin Console.

  2. In the left-hand navigation menu, click Manage Emojis.

  3. Create New: Use the Create Emoji button in the header.

  4. Edit/Delete: Click on the three-dotted button to the right of any existing emoji to edit its name or delete it from the workspace. Remember to click Save after editing!

And there you have it! You're now ready to ditch the boring thumbs-up and start communicating with pure brand genius. Go forth and emoji! 😜
