Ask Copilot to synthesize internal strategies, draft client proposals using official brand collateral, or summarize recent leadership announcements. Instead of generating generic answers or relying on outdated uploads, Copilot queries your live Haystack environment securely, returning accurate, contextual responses complete with internal references.

What is an MCP?

Think of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) as a secure digital bridge between your AI engine (Copilot) and your internal repository (Haystack). Similar to how a home streaming device connects your TV to your movie app, an MCP allows Copilot to tune directly into your company’s internal library to retrieve verified information when you need it.

Copilot can securely search your live Haystack workspace to find, summarize, and cite posts, pages, and other intranet content. Every result respects the individual user's Haystack permissions, so people only see what they already have access to.

Coming Soon (Q4 2026): Post & Page Creation

Soon you'll be able to create Haystack posts and pages directly from Copilot. Draft an announcement, build out a new resource page, or turn a meeting summary into a post without leaving your AI workflow. This capability is in beta now and will be available to all users soon! Setup Prerequisites & Permissions

Admin Authorization: Initial setup must be performed by a Haystack Workspace Admin.
Official App Available: Haystack maintains an official app within the Microsoft ecosystem for seamless workspace connection.
User Permissions: Platform security is strictly maintained. The integration mirrors each individual user's exact Haystack permission settings—users cannot view or retrieve any content through Copilot that they cannot access directly on Haystack.

Prompt for Citations: Include requests for sources in your prompt (e.g., "Summarize our travel policy from Haystack and cite the page title").

Keep Credentials Private: Always log in using secure OAuth authorization windows rather than sharing private authentication details in chat prompts.
