📌 Important note before you get started: Access to configure these settings is restricted exclusively to Workspace Admins. Standard users cannot modify global profile settings or create custom fields.
The User Profile Settings page of your admin console gives you the tools you need to customize which fields display on your user's profiles, what they're called, and if they can be edited. You can also add three custom profile fields if you'd like!
Watch the video below to learn all about this page and how to put it to work. You can also scroll down and click on the timestamps to visit specific sections of the video.

Click on the 'Customize' button next to each field.
Use the toggle to hide fields that are not relevant to your team.
3. Renaming Profile Fields (Video Time Stamp: 5:06)

4. Locking Profile Fields (Video Time Stamp: 8:01)
Identify fields that should be locked (e.g., name, email, job title) for edits in the interface—making them only editable by HRIS integrations, IDP SCIM integrations, or .csv file upload.
Click on the 'Customize' button next to each field.
Use the toggle to lock these fields to prevent edits in the Haystack interface.
5. Adding Custom Profile Fields (Video Time Stamp: 10:13)
Scroll to the bottom of the User Profile Settings page.
Click to add new custom profile fields—up to three! Keep in mind that these fields all behave like the chipped/tagged fields, like hobbies and skills.
Enter the details for each custom field and ensure they are visible by unhiding them.
Cautionary Notes
Core profile fields must always remain visible and cannot be hidden.
Be cautious when locking fields; only lock fields that are being populate by an external integration or bulk user upload.
Tips for Efficiency
Regularly review profile fields to ensure they remain relevant to your team.
Involve team members in the customization process to gather input on useful fields.
Document any changes made for future reference.
